As new air traffic control students, you are stepping into a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of airspace operations. This course is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of procedural separation—an essential concept in managing air traffic.
Procedural separation involves the use of established protocols and techniques to maintain safe distances between aircraft during all phases of flight, particularly when radar surveillance is not available. You will learn about the principles of separation, including time and distance calculations, the importance of communication, and how to apply these procedures in various scenarios.
At the end of this course you will equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to recognize and apply the appropriate procedural separation in a simulated Tower and Approach environment in accordance with the ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) contained in the ICAO PANS-ATM DOC 4444.
